Sugar Gliders *R* Us Emergency/After Hours Policy:

-At Sugar Gliders *R* Us, the health and safety of every animal we place is our highest priority. As a new pet owner, it is important that you are prepared to act quickly in the event of a medical emergency. Please read and keep these instructions for reference.

-Step 1: Contact a Qualified Veterinarian Immediately

If your pet is showing signs of illness, injury, or distress, your first course of action should always be to contact a qualified veterinarian. Time is critical in an emergency, and prompt veterinary care can make the difference in your pet’s outcome.

-Signs that require immediate veterinary attention include, but are not limited to:

• Lethargy, unresponsiveness, or difficulty waking

• Refusal to eat or drink for an extended period

• Visible injuries, bleeding, or swelling

• Difficulty breathing, wheezing, or open-mouth breathing

• Seizures, tremors, or loss of coordination

• Diarrhea, vomiting, or other sudden changes in behavior

• Signs of self-mutilation or extreme stress

-Important: We strongly recommend that you establish a relationship with an exotic animal veterinarian in your area before an emergency arises. Not all veterinarians are experienced with exotic species. Ask your vet if they treat sugar gliders, primates, or other exotic animals, and confirm whether they offer after-hours or emergency services. Having this information on hand ahead of time can save valuable minutes in a crisis.

-Step 2: Contact Sugar Gliders R Us

After you have contacted or are en route to your veterinarian, please reach out to our facility as soon as possible. Our contact information can be found in the Contact Us section of our website.

With over 25 years of hands-on experience raising and caring for exotic animals, our team can provide guidance, answer questions, and help you communicate important details to your veterinarian. While we are not a substitute for professional veterinary care, we are here to support you every step of the way.

-When contacting us, please be prepared to provide the following information: a description of your pet’s symptoms, when the symptoms were first noticed, any changes in diet, environment, or behavior, and whether your pet has been seen by a veterinarian.

-After-Hours Emergencies:

We understand that emergencies do not always happen during regular business hours. If you are experiencing an after-hours emergency, please contact your nearest emergency veterinary clinic immediately. Many areas have 24-hour animal hospitals that accept exotic species. We recommend identifying one in your area in advance and keeping their number readily available.

-You may also leave us a message through the Contact Us section of our website, and we will respond as soon as possible. We do our best to monitor messages and return calls promptly, even outside of regular business hours.

-Be Prepared

As a responsible exotic pet owner, preparation is key. We recommend keeping a small emergency kit on hand that includes a secure travel carrier, a heat source such as a small heating pad or hand warmer, and a syringe or dropper for administering fluids. Having these items available can help stabilize your pet while you seek veterinary care.

-At Sugar Gliders R Us, our commitment to you and your pet extends well beyond the point of sale. We are your partners in providing the best possible care for your new family member. Do not hesitate to reach out to us — we are here to help.
